COMPTROLLER MOREHOUSE & MAYOR PALMIERI ANNOUNCE
CITY TAXES ARE NOW PAYABLE ON-LINE
On-Line Tax Payments Marks Major Mutual Goal for Comptroller and Mayor’s Office
Comptroller William Morehouse and Mayor Palmieri today announced that City taxes can now be paid on-line, a major mutual goal of the Comptroller and Mayor’s office.
Last year the Empire Center for Public Policy released its SeeThroughNY Website Report Card on municipal websites in which the City of Utica’s website was graded an “F”.
Understanding that the City’s old website was antiquated and not user friendly, the Comptroller, Mayor and Common Council, cited the upgrading of the City’s website as a major goal and priority.
In April of this year, the City unveiled a completely revamped and responsive website which was tested by Google and deemed user friendly for mobile devices. Among many other exciting features, the website can also be translated into approximately 90 languages making it more inclusive to Utica’s growing and culturally diverse population.
At the unveiling announcement in April, the Comptroller and Mayor stated publically that the next major step in enhancing the City’s website was to provide residents the ability to pay their taxes on-line by the end of July.
Comptroller Morehouse stated, “It is essential that we provide our residents the best possible customer service. When I took office in 2014 one of my top priorities was to make life easier for our residents by providing them the option to pay their tax on-line. By working closely with the Mayor and IT Department I am pleased we were able to deliver on this promise.”
Mayor Palmieri stated, “This is just another example of how Utica is changing for the better. The old website was not acceptable and the fact that in just 7 months we went from a website with an “F” grade to one that can accept tax payments is remarkable and a testament to everyone in City government working together for a common purpose.”
The Mayor continued, “I commend and thank Comptroller Morehouse, the Common Council and our IT Director Frank Mutolo for their great work in ensuring this initiative came to fruition.”
Residents who wish to pay their taxes on-line can go to the City’s website at www.cityofutica.com and click on View/Pay Tax Bill under the “Quick Links” section of the website.
