MAYOR PALMIERI ANNOUNCES GROUNDBREAKING OF OMNI OUTPATIENT SURGICAL CENTER AT FORMER GROSSMAN’S SITE IN SOUTH UTICA
Construction of Surgical Center is a $6 Million Investment & Will Create 20 New Jobs
Mayor Robert Palmieri and Dr. Nameer Haider today announced the formal groundbreaking for the Omni Surgical Center at the former Grossman’s site on French Road in south Utica. The former Grossman’s site was the home of the Leather Stocking Sportsplex, but has been vacant for nearly 10 years.
The surgical center will be constructed by Hayner Hoyt Construction Company out of Syracuse and consists of a $6 million dollar private investment and will create 20 new jobs.
The surgical center performs outpatient, minimally invasive procedures to address pain management for its patients. Dr. Haider currently treats patients at his practice at 1508 Genesee Street, a building he renovated two years ago. The Genesee Street office will remain open and he will continue to treat patients there as this new facility is an expansion of his practice, and is expected to be open by October of this year.
Mayor Palmieri stated, “This is another exciting day for the City of Utica. I thank Dr. Haider and the OMNI Surgical Center team for their commitment to Utica.
The Mayor added, “Similar to the Bossert’s site in west Utica, this is another vacant property that has been talked about for years. By working with a local business we will now see a multi-million dollar investment and the creation of 20 new jobs. Utica is truly a City on the rise.”
Dr. Nameer Haider stated, “Our mission is to provide compassionate Patient centered State of the Art care. The OMNI Surgery Center will be the preeminent surgical facility providing cutting edge treatments in a modern environment of comfort and convenience, using advanced technologies in surgery, imaging, and electronic medical records. Our vision is to bring world class medical care to the residents of Central New York. We thank Mayor Palmieri and the City of Utica for their unparalleled support in this project.”
South Utica Councilman Bob DeSanctis stated, “This is another example of recent continued progress in regards to capital commercial investment in the city of Utica. We welcome Dr. Haider and his team for selecting Utica for the site of their new medical facility.”
