Mayor Michael P. Galime to Display Pride Flag at Utica City Hall in Recognition of Pride Month

UTICA, NY – In exercising rightful Government speech Mayor Michael P. Galime has placed the Pride Flag outside his office at Utica City Hall reaffirming the City’s commitment to inclusion and respect for all residents.

“As we established new guidelines for flag raisings at City Hall, it opened the door to many questions, concerns, and advocacy from residents across the community,” said Mayor Galime. I have determined that the Office of the Mayor retains the ability to express government speech, and as such, I’ve chosen to display the Pride Flag outside my office.”

This is a personal and intentional expression that reflects a commitment to community, compassion, and respect for all people.

“I care deeply about this community and believe in the importance of creating a city where everyone feels seen, valued, and welcomed,” Galime added. “This is one of many ways my office will continue to demonstrate support for all residents.

The City of Utica is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive community. This action by the Mayor reflects an ongoing dedication to ensuring the City of Utica remains a place where all citizens feel represented and supported.
