Mayor Michael P. Galime Announces Expansion for Destination Kia of Utica

Utica, NY – The City of Utica Urban Renewal Agency has received an offer from the owner of Destination Kia of Utica to purchase 5.5 acres of City-owned land along Erie Street and Oriskany Boulevard.  Plans call for an investment in the site of nearly $10 million dollars and will include the construction of a modern 25,000 square foot sales and service facility.  The expansion to Utica will result in the creation of at least 15 new full-time jobs.

Of the proposed plan, Mayor Michael P. Galime stated, “This is an incredible step in the absolute transformation of the Oriskany Street Corridor.  This milestone welcomes Destination Kia with open arms.  We couldn’t be more excited to work hand in hand through the redevelopment process.”

The development plan submitted by Mr. Morrell calls for construction of the new facility to begin in 2026 after areas of the site have been remediated with an opening slated for late 2027/early 2028.

The Utica Urban Renewal Agency approved the offer of $400K at its regular meeting at 9:30 AM on Thursday, September 25, 2025 in the Common Council chambers of Utica City Hall.
