PRESS RELEASE: March 20, 2024

Mayor Michael P. Galime is pleased to announce that City Hall,
the UTICA sign at Utica Place Garage, and Varick Street will glow Yellow and Blue in Honor of World Down Syndrome Day,
Thursday, March 21, 2024.

3/21 is significant in the Down syndrome community because Down syndrome occurs when there is a third copy of the 21st chromosome during cell division- thus, 3.21! People with Down syndrome may have some developmental delays, but are more like their typical peers than different. On 3/21 we celebrate that extra chromosome and all the wonderful things that come with it.
