MAYOR PALMIERI ANNOUNCES BARTON & LOGUIDICE OPENS OFFICE IN UTICA
Firm Expands in Mohawk Valley Region with the Addition of its 16th Office

Mayor Palmieri today announced Barton & Loguidice (B&L), a multi-disciplinary consulting firm that provides technical solutions to public and private clients with 350 employees throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, is opening a new office at 70 Genesee Street in the heart of Bagg’s Square.

Chad W. Hutton, Vice President of B&L from Boonville, NY will be managing the firm’s new office. The 7,700 square foot office space, located in the historic and newly-renovated Utica Travelers Insurance Building, will accommodate an initial staff of 12 with expanded capacity for up to 30 employees on two levels. The expansion, prompted by the need of B&L’s growing staff in the Utica/Rome/Mohawk Valley Region, now provides local offices and conference rooms for team collaboration and meeting space with area clients.

B&L President & CEO John F. Brusa, Jr., P.E., “This new office more effectively accommodates our employees who live in the region and were commuting to our other offices to work. Now they can save time and costs on travel, while reducing carbon emissions.”

Brusa adds, “At a time when companies are struggling with post COVID work models, we heard from our staff that they wanted an office that would provide them with greater flexibility as well as a more convenient hybrid work model.” In addition to serving the needs of its growing professional staff, the new location will provide B&L’s expanding client base with even greater local resources to bring their critical infrastructure projects to life. “Aside from B&L staff who currently live the area, many of our New York-based employees have significant ties to the Mohawk Valley. We are excited to be contributing to the revitalization of downtown Utica by making this long-term investment,” adds Brusa.

The Utica Travelers Insurance Building renovation is being completed by Lahinch Group, along with Hueber-Breuer Construction and Morrisroe Lynn Development, LLC. The building was first constructed in 1905 with an addition to the original five-story structure being completed in 1938. This iconic Utica building was home to various insurance companies for over 110 years and has played a pivotal role in shaping the Mohawk Valley economy. This certified historic rehabilitation project will transform the Utica Travelers Insurance Building into a mixed use property offering 10,000 square feet of commercial/retail space and 32 residential units. “B&L is proud to be the anchor tenant of this important and historic development,” said Branch Manager Hutton.

Mayor Palmieri stated, “We welcome Barton & Loguidice to Utica with open arms. With the renovation of Commercial Travelers Building, we continue to see positive development in Bagg’s Square and Barton & Loguidice will be a great asset to our community.

Mayor Palmieri continued, “I thank John Brusa and Barton & Loguidice for their commitment and investment in Utica.”
