Mayor Robert Palmieri has secured a Grant for Youth Tennis and Basketball
MAYOR PALMIERI ANNOUNCES GRANT FROM THE EDWIN J.
WADAS FOUNDATION FOR YOUTH SPORT PROGRAMMING
Mayor Robert Palmieri today announced the City of Utica has secured a grant for youth tennis and basketball programming through the Edwin J. Wadas Foundation, Inc.
As part of its mission, the Edwin J. Wadas Foundation, Inc. supports youth athletics in Oneida and Herkimer Counties by providing financial resources to qualified organizations, as well as educational scholarships to local student athletes.
The grant secured by the city will be utilized to purchase necessary materials and equipment to support tennis and basketball youth programs.
Mayor Palmieri stated, “What makes our community special is the generosity and warmth of our residents. Edwin Wadas exemplified these characteristics, and his legacy lives on through the work of his foundation. We are grateful and appreciative for this grant as it will enhance the experience for our young athletes.”
The Edwin J. Wadas Foundation Executive Director Victoria Cataldo stated, “As COVID-19 restrictions lift and organized activities return, financial support for local sports and recreation has never been more vital. Investing now in youth activities means investing in a healthy community. We are proud to partner with the City of Utica to provide outdoor recreational activities that will engage our local youth.”
