2015 Mayor's Benefit Gala

Funds Raised Will Help Construct Sensory Park for Children With Developmental Disabilities

Mayor Palmieri and his wife, Susan, today announced Upstate Cerebral Palsy (UCP) as the 2015 Mayor’s Gala recipient and Gala proceeds will enable UCP to construct and equip its sensory park for children at their New Discoveries and Tradewinds Education Centers.

The Park will be located at UCP’s Armory Campus in Utica and feature a trail with stations for physical fitness, learning, and sensory stimulation.

Mayor Robert and Susan Palmieri stated, “We are pleased and excited to announce that Upstate Cerebral Palsy will be this year’s recipient for the Mayor’s Benefit Gala. UCP has a strong record in providing essential services to those in need in our community. We encourage everyone to attend the Gala and support this great cause.”

Louis Tehan, President and CEO of UCP stated, “On behalf of the Board of Directors and families of Upstate Cerebral Palsy, thank you to Mayor Palmieri for this tremendous honor and privilege. Upstate Cerebral Palsy has been positively impacting children’s lives for decades and this opportunity to augment our education programs, both for our youngest preschool children all the way through to our school-age population transitioning to adulthood, will prove extremely beneficial to all of the children we support.  With funds from the Gala, we plan to construct an outdoor trail with exercise equipment along the way. It will help to reinforce the importance of exercise, complementing our children’s educational experience in the classroom while creating overall healthier lives”

From serving the first seven children with Cerebral Palsy in 1950 to the thousands of people it serves today, Upstate Cerebral Palsy has remained focused on its initial purpose and mission- providing care to people with differing abilities.

The 2015 Mayor’s Benefit Gala, will be held on Saturday May 2, 2015, at the Radisson Hotel and will begin at 7:00 pm. The cost is $50 per person. To make reservations for the Gala: contact Kathy Hartnett at UCP at (315)724-6907, ext. 2308 or via e-mail Kathy.Hartnett@upstatecp.org.
