The City of Utica Codes Department is committed to protecting the health, safety and well being of the citizens of the City of Utica through the enforcement of the New York State Building and Property Maintenance Code.
The City of Utica Codes Department works closely with property owners, neighborhood groups and organizations in an attempt to improve the appearance and safety of all buildings and property within the City of Utica.
Building plan review and inspection of building construction within the city is also a responsibility of the Codes Department.
The Codes Department also works with the Oneida County Department of Social Services to make routine inspections of all dwellings of recipients of programs and services offered by Oneida County.
The members of the Utica Codes Department are as diverse as the city itself, and are dedicated to preserving the stability of Utica's residential and commercial neighborhoods through aggressive codes enforcement.
