MAYOR PALMIERI & JAN FORTE ANNOUNCE HOME OWNER SHIP CENTER TO LEASE FORMER THOMAS LINDSEY PUBLIC SAFETY CENTER

Home Ownership Center Will Utilize Facility to House the Empowerment Center and Offer Programs and Training to Residents

Mayor Robert Palmieri and Home Ownership Center CEO Jan Forte today announced the Home Ownership Center has officially leased the former Thomas Lindsey Public Safety Center on James Street, an exciting partnership that will house the Empowerment Center and provide residential programs.

The Empowerment Center will provide space for community meetings and seminars and through partnerships with community organizations, financial institutions, and colleges offer an array of program opportunities.

The Thomas Lindsey Public Safety Center opened in 2009 but the facility never achieved its full potential. It was a priority for the Administration to ensure the building was utilized for the betterment of the Cornhill neighborhood and the City as a whole.

Mayor Palmieri stated, “I thank Jan Forte for her vision and commitment to our community. Providing resources, programs, training and other tools is invaluable to our residents.   In working with the Home Ownership Center we will continue to strive to make this facility something our community will be proud of.”

Home Ownership Center CEO Jan Forte stated, “We are excited to work with Mayor Palmieri and the Cornhill community to develop strategies and programing that will provide the knowledge and tools they want to uplift and stabilize their community and empower local residents.”
