MAYOR PALMIERI ANNOUNCES STATE CERTIFICATION

OF UTICA & NEW HARTFORD’S SWAT TEAMS


Joined by Utica and New Hartford Police personnel, Mayor Robert Palmieri today announced New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) approved the Utica and New Hartford Police Departments SWAT Team Certification application.

Upon extensive review, it was determined the application met all the requirements established by DCJS’s Municipal Training Council. 

There are over 100 SWAT Teams in New York State and only 9 have achieved certification. 

In addition to earning its SWAT Team certification, the Utica Police Department is one of only 22% of police agencies in New York State to have accreditation status with DCJS.  

Mayor Palmieri stated, “This announcement is a testament to the professionalism of the Utica and New Hartford Police Department’s and the strong working relationship we’ve built over the past several years.  I commend and thank Chief Williams and UPD personnel for all they do in keeping our community safe, as well as, Supervisor Tyksinski and Chief Inserra for their continued partnership.”
