MAYOR PALMIERI ENCOURAGES COMMUNITY TO HELP VICTIMS OF HURRICANE HARVEY

Mayor Palmieri is encouraging our community to help individuals who have been impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

There are several ways residents can assist in this effort.  Many City employees have contributed to this cause, and the Mayor’s office is collecting donations that will be sent to the Greater Houston Community Foundation’s Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, which was established by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner.

The donations will go to victims that have been affected by the recent floods.

Checks can be made out to the Greater Houston Community Foundation with Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund written in the memo line and dropped off at City Hall.

Residents can also donate via credit card at https://ghcf.org/hurricane-relief/.   In addition to the Hurricane Relief Fund, residents can also donate to the American Red Cross at https://www.redcross.org/donate/donation?flow=oc3&loggedIn=false

While the residents of Utica have always been generous in helping people in their time of need, this situation is unique.  The City’s Deputy Budget Director, Tony Nguyen, a Houston native who has made Utica his home, still has immediate family and friends in Houston who have been impacted by the flooding.

Mayor Palmieri stated, “One of the things I take most pride in being Mayor of Utica is the warmth and generosity of the people in this community.  While all natural disasters are tragic, this one hits home given how Tony has become a part of our Utica family, and this is what family does in a time of need.”
