A street opening permit is required anytime excavation will be performed within the City’s right-of-way pavement area. Excavation may be required to repair damaged sewer laterals, water service lines, etc... When issuing the permit the Engineering Department also informs the contractor of any potential conflicts with the City’s underground utilities.
