The mission of the department overall is to provide quality, dependable public safety to the citizens of Utica.

The Police Department is dedicated to improving the quality of life in Utica by preserving the peace, protecting persons and property, and controlling disorder by enforcing laws within the city.

The Fire Department's responsibility is to minimize injuries, deaths, and property loss resulting from fires, medical emergencies, and other disasters which occur in the City of Utica.
