Spitzer announces substantial AIM funding for the City of Utica
January 22, 2008- (Utica, NY) – Utica Mayor, David R. Roefaro (D-Utica) has announced Utica, NY will be the recipient of a 9% increase from last year (or $1.4 million dollars) in AIM funding. AIM funding is Aid and Incentives for Municipalities such as the City of Utica. Utica uses these funds to provide all the basic services to its citizens, services like: police, fire and public works. These additional monies will be allocated to the cities general fund. The general fund is comprised of revenue from Property taxes, Sales tax, State revenue, and other departmental revenue drivers.
The money announced today will allow the City of Utica to both allocate more money to community programs and the overall welfare of the taxpayers. Mayor David Roefaro stated, "Once again Governor Spitzer has backed up his promise to Upstate with real dollars" He added, "The Governor has been working with me continuously since I've taken office and Utica is going to be seeing a lot of positive changes like this in the future."
