Course Layout
Hole 1 – Par 4The first hole at Valley View is straight away to a long narrow green. Players should keep their drive to right to center in the fairway. Hole 2 – Par 4 Again, another straight away hole but considerably longer. Reachable in two, second or third shot will be onto a two-tiered green. Keep second shot to the left if going in two shots as there are sand hazards to the right. Hole 3 – Par 4 Valley View's signature hole, coined 'Cardiac Hill'. Yardage plays two clubs on second shot. Hazards include woods and traps on left and right near green, water to the left and out-of-bounds on the right. Hole 4 – Par 4 This is a narrow fairway that slopes hard to the right with woods to the left and right. It is advisable to hit drive to the left. There is a trap at the front right of green and slope off back. Hole 5 – Par 4 Narrow chute (depending on tee location) to a slight dog-leg right. Woods are on the right and left with a trap and water hazard near the green. Hole 6 – Par 3 Short Par 3 with a bowl-shaped green and sand on the left. Green likewise drops to the left quickly. In the summer it is smart to play the hill on the right and let it roll to the cup. Hole 7 – Par 4 Long downhill Par 4 from the blue tee (494 yards). OB on right and water on the left of down-hilled fairway. Traps sit on the front left and right of slightly elevated green. The hole plays much shorter from white tees. Hole 8 – Par 4 Slight uphill straight away par 4 to a small and narrow undulating green with a trap on the left front. Keep second shot short of hole as green falls off to the right front. Hole 9 – Par 4 Short downhill with OB on the left and trees to the right. Blind bowl-shaped green from the tees that has traps on both left and right. Play second shot short when approaching green especially in summer as it slopes heavily to the back. When making the turn, visit the snack bar for a cold, refreshing beverage and a hot dog! Hole 10 – Par 4 Hole 10 is a short uphill where you will want to keep your shot left to center so as not to be blocked out by the trees on the right. The green is wide and shallow and surrounded by trees to the back. Hole 11 – Par 4 This is a long par 4 to a blind green. The fairway slopes to the left so keep drive left to center. If you slice and go right, you may be blocked by dense, tall woods with a ravine at the bottom. A sand trap on the left of the green makes your second shot even tougher. Hole 12 – Par 4 A short, but sharp dog leg right marks this hole. OB is on the right along the tree line. The wind is usually in your face on the second shot so hit an extra club or a knock-down to keep it low. The green is narrow and two-tiered. If you are a long ball hitter, try the diagonal and go for the green in one. Hole 13 – par 4 The prevailing wind really picks up on Hole 13 and can turn even the hardest hit drive into something much shorter than expected. The long, two-tiered green is protected by a couple of bunkers in the front and moderate slope off the back. Hole 14 – Par 3 Talk about a distance difference: 197 yards from the blues and 158 from the whites. Blues play a long iron to a wood and mid iron to short from whites. An elevated green is what you shoot at with a trap in the front right and OB on the length of the left side. The green slopes heavily to the left front. Hole 15 – Par 4 Another straight away hole generally downwind. Woods and rough line the right from tee to green. A round undulating green has a trap on the front right. Hole 16 – Par 4 Hole 16 offers a short par 4 with an uphill blind tee shot to a wide and shallow green. Bunkers are in the front and back with the same ravine from Hole 11 if you are long. Hole 17 – Par 5 Offering the most picturesque view of the City of Utica on the course, Hole 17 is a short par 5. Whether from the blues or whites, players must play the chute with woods along both sides down to the top of the hill. Second shot is most likely downhill to a deep, bowl-shaped green. Green slopes from front to back more than it looks and don't be long. Hole 18 – Par 3 Short par 3 to a big kidney-shaped green with traps on both sides in front. OB long left. Downwind and short due to elevated tees. |
