Goran Smiljic, Commissioner
Night Street Parking
On November 6, 2002 the City's Common Council enacted legislation that would enable certain residents of the City to apply for all night parking permits. This was done in response to an overwhelming need to provide residents with no driveways or available parking lots a place to park their cars overnight. The permits may be issued only upon compliance with all of the following conditions:
(1) Their must be no reasonable alternative available to provide off-street parking for the applicants.
(2) The parking area will be contiguous to the property for which the permit is issued.
(3) Only registered vehicles bearing current registration plates may be parked in the parking area.

(4) The permit holder must follow all snow emergency regulations and parking regulations other than the regulation prohibiting all night parking.

(5) Only passenger motor vehicles and light trucks with one (1) ton or less maximum load capacity shall be eligible for a permit.

(6) The permittee shall release, indemnify, and hold harmless the City, its agents and employees from any claims for personal injury or property damage allegedly caused by city snow removal and street cleaning operations.

(7) Application shall be made on a form available in the Codes Department by a resident of the property contiguous to the proposed parking area.

(8) The application fee for the permit shall be ten dollars ($10.00)  due and payable at the time the application is made and is non-refundable.
The fee for a replacement certificate is five dollars ($5.00)

(9) The permit shall be valid for two (2) years, or as long as the permittee resides at the location and is in compliance with all conditions of the permit, whichever time is shorter.
