Founded by Syracuse University in 1946, Utica College continues to grant the Syracuse University bachelor's degree in areas such as health care, criminal justice, public relations, journalism, business, and the liberal arts. Hamilton College Hamilton is a highly selective residential college offering its students a rigorous liberal arts curriculum. Chartered in 1812, it is the third oldest college in New York State and is named in honor of Alexander Hamilton, a charter trustee of the college's predecessor, the Hamilton-Oneida Academy.
