Utica's public education system supports an industrious and determined work force and boasts a high school graduation rate 15 percent higher than the state average and 5 percent higher than the national average. Utica's high school graduates can choose from 15 two year and four-year colleges located within 60 minutes of the city, as well as several vocational and trade schools. Due to these educational opportunities, 24 percent of Utica's work force has at least a four year college degree and nearly 24 percent of Utica's work force is professional or technical.
